Can someone please tell me a little bit about Reiki?

It sounds like you are an intuitive somewhat, unless for some reason you have poor circulation? :-) First of all I'd like to welcome you. I'm new here myself. I've been practicing for about 12 years now.

To answer your question, Reiki I consider to be an intuitive healing art. It's very spiritual. Use that intuition to become in tune to your subject. That intuition will lead your hands to where they need to go. The more you practice the better you will get. You need to get with a practitioner/ master in your area to teach you the proper hand placement, then how and when to use the specific symbols. Then at each level you progress to you will be attuned by your master teacher.Don't worry it won't take long. There are only 3 levels. I sounds like you have a gift so it will be natural for you. Just be aware that you can take on the symptoms of your subject if you don't protect yourself.

If you were in my area I'd love to train you myself. Where are you from?

Thank you for all the information! I am in northern California. But I started searching on google and I found a school in my area so I'm going to check it out. I'm really excited about it.

I'll tell you the whole story of how I got here. Recently I asked life what life wants from me. I invited consciousness inot my life to show me what life wants from me. Yesterday, I was surfing the internet and I saw an ad at the bottom of a page that said something about Sedona Reiki (hadn't a clue what it was and never saw the word Reiki before) and being the way of living like Eckhart Tolle. So of course it caught my eye since I am practicing the teachings of Eckhart but I was busy so I kept on what I was doing, emailing friends on myspace (geez...I know...so important right? lol) So I keep surfing the internet and then I check my email a couple of hours later and I get an email from Chris Tienny, from the Powerful Intentions Community. So I check it and he invites me to this other community called Energy Healing. So I decide to check it out, and when I entered the site immediately my body is overwhelmed with a tingly sensation, especially in my hands. They become almost numb and very unusually warm. The feeling is really nice though so I instantly think I am picking up on the energy of every one that is logged onto the site. So I begin to poke around, checking things out and I decide to make a profile. All of the sudden I am drawn to look in the groups section. They have quite a few. I click on something called Reiki. The feeling intensifies. I know nothing about this Reiki and I have never even heard of it yet for some strong reason I know that I am meant to be there, but then I remember the ad that I had seen at the bottom of my web page a couple of hours ago! So I start reading and to my amazement it is a form of healing that you do WITH YOUR HANDS. Weird, kinda. So I decide to google it. What do you think comes up????? A Reiki school in SADONA, AZ. (The ad that I had seen)First thing on google, right there- bam it front of my face. My body goes numb and my stomach kinda flip-flops. I think to myself could this be something that I am meant to do with my life? Is this what life wants from me? I read and read and it all sounds very interesting and the energy seems to be what I am experiencing in my body and hands. Whew.

Well, at this point, I decided to go to bed because this is all blowing my mind. I go upstairs and get into bed and I decide to just pick up my book A New Earth (even thought I am done reading it) I open it up to a random page and it's the beginning of a chapter. The chapter is telling me that some people are destined to be ENERGY HEALERS with the energy they receive. OMG this is really blowing my mind now. And it also brings me to tears because I know now, what I have to do. I give thanks and am grateful so I go to bed. First thing in the morning I get an email from Joe VItale saying that he was awoken in the middle of the night feeling the need to send an email, and he goes on to say that someone out there is in need of healing or needs to be taught about spiritual healing! If I had any doubts, that email just confirmed it. I had 19 emails in my inbox and that one was the first one. So... All signs are pointing. This is definitely someting that I need to check out.

So as you can see I'm super excited about it. I can't wait to enroll for classes. I found a school that isn't too far from where I live so I feel like everything is lining up for me.

Anyways, thank you for the info and I will keep you posted as things unfold for me =)

It will be an amazing journey. I am so excited for you...Did you find that your hands became a little swollen as well once the energy started?

Thank you! No swelling it just came over my whole body and then settled in my hands. They were warm though and I did feel a little dizzy and a little bit of an accelerated heart beat but maybe that was just from the rush of what was happening? I don't really know I' m still trying to figure it all out! Maybe I shouldn't try to figure it all out and just go with it!

Is this something that happens when performing Reiki? I have been reading about it for a few days but I know that you can read all you want but I know I won't know until I actually experience it for myself.

The tingly sensation is reiki energy or, more simply, the energy sahred by everyone and everything. And, I do mean everyone and everything.

Reiki is that energy and when directed it will heal or be a part of all healing. You do not need to spend huge sums of maney to learn reiki although some might want you to believe differently. Do some exploraations of web sites and you will find chakra rei do.com. I think that's the spelling. Judith is a wonderful reiki master who offers a wealth of information and training at a very reasonable price. She has free materials as well. She offers charts for hand placements. In fact, I think I still have them. If you would like, I can send them to you. Just let me know. Send me a note at corticari@comcast.net and I will look for them. I have changed my tech systems so I will need to poke around.

You are protected and do not need extra protection when using reiki. This is enrgy that is available to all and it doesn't have negativity attached to it though some might tell you differently. The good/bad is within ourselves. It is a matter of what we want to bring forth into this world.

She is gentle, humorous, and loving. She is kind and generous.

The tingly feelings are amazing and can be intense or gentle. They can be summoned when you need to work with someone or when someone who is quite aware comes into your presence. I have had feeling by just thinking about my hands and focusing on them. Focus seems to be one of the keys. Where you place yourself, you are. But isn't that the way of life.

Enjoy your life. It leads you where you need to be from moment to moment. Go well. Stay well.
